Freiham
Until the mid-20th century, shortened name for “Gut Freiham”, first mentioned as early as the 12th century, west of Munich’s city limits, about three kilometers from the Neuaubing RAW, which was also incorporated in 1942. The estate had its own railroad station on the line to Herrsching from 1903. The estate still exists today, and some buildings, such as Freiham Castle, which Rudolf von Maffei remodeled in a representative manner, are listed as historic monuments. Since 2006, this has been the name given to the newly developed Munich district mainly on the former estates and directly adjacent to Neuaubing. Living and working space for up to 30,000 people will be created here in the next few years.
